Agriculture, with its allied sectors, is undoubtedly the largest livelihood provider in India. As per 2018, agriculture employed 50% of the Indian work force and contributed 17-18% to country's GDP. India has made immense progress towards crop cultivation and farming. Today India ranks is second largest producer of wheat and rice in the world. India has many areas to choose for business such as dairy, meat, poultry, fisheries and food grains etc. India has emerged as the second largest producer of fruits and vegetables in the world. India is also one of the world’s five largest producers of poultry meat and livestock in 2011. Indian agriculture have witnessed a green revolution.

This study include enhancement of fruit quality, regulation of production periods, and reduction of production cost. One involved in the science of pomology is called a pomologist. This  is mainly focused on the development, enhancement, cultivation and physiological studies of fruit trees. This  is a seed-bearing structure that develops from the ovary of a flowering plant.

A specialized branch of horticulture which studies all the aspects of vegetable production, including growth regulation, pest management, sustainable production, harvesting, handling, storage, shipping, and final consumption. This study is is applied to plants collectively to refer to all edible plant matter, including the flowersfruitsstemsleavesroots, and seeds.                                                                         -Vegetable Science

This is the art and science of growing and handling fruits, nuts, vegetables, herbs, flowers, foliage plants, woody ornamentals, and turf. It deals with intensively cultured and high-value crops. This branch of agriculture concerned with intensively cultured plants directly used by man for food, for medicinal purposes, or for esthetic gratification.

It deals with the techniques and principles involved in processing and preserving the food substances. The application of food science helps in manufacturing safe, wholesome and nutritious food products.                                                                 -Food Tech

It deals with insects and their relationship to humans, the environment, and other organisms. The study of insects serves as the basis for developments in biological and chemical pest control, food and fiber production and storage, pharmaceuticals epidemiology, biological diversity, and a variety of other fields of science.
